Pakistan has summoned the US ambassador to protest formally against missile strikes launched by drone aircraft against militant targets on Pakistani soil. The protest comes one day after a suspected US missile strike killed five people. Wednesday's attack was unusual in that it took place deeper inside Pakistani in an area beyond the semi-autonomous tribal lands bordering Afghanistan where most other attacks have taken place.
