Rolls Royce plans to cut up to 2,000 jobs in 2009
Aero-engine maker Rolls-Royce said it plans to cut up to 2,000 jobs worldwide in 2009 as a result of the current economic crisis. Rolls-Royce, which employs 39,000 workers globally, 60 percent of them in Britain, said the announcement was the first stage in a more general programme aimed at matching the group's capacity more closely with the expected load in its facilities. Meanwhile, French carmaker Peugeot-Citroen has announced plans to slash 2,700 jobs across all its factories, as the global automobile sector continues to struggle.
