Slum TV From Kenya Reaches Out To the World
Slum-TV is a film-project in one of Kenya’s largest slums in Nairobi, Mathare. Now the team is calling on creative Filmmakers worldwide to enter a competition and visit Mathare.
People from the slum produce video clips about their everyday life. Once per month they screen the clips on a public place in Mathare and on the Internet. From last December to March earlier this year, bloody skirmishes forced public screenings to stop. But that situation has improved- it’s safe to organize public screenings again. And the producers of Slum-TV already have a new project to look forward to.
