Pushing for the Protection of the World’s Marine Ecoregions
The oceans boast more than half the earth's biodiversity with new species being discovered every year.
The world’s oceans produce 70% of our oxygen, absorb heat and redistribute it around the world, and have a major influence on the world’s weather system. While they cover over 70% of the planet’s surface only a small percentage have be protected to safeguard their rich resources.
Living Planet speaks with Stephan Lutter, International Marine Policy Officer with the World Wide Fund for Nature in Germany about the need to for better maritime protection.
