World Council of Churches Celebrates Birthday
The ecumenical Council of Churches its sixtieth birthday on the 23rd of August.
At the beginning, 147 protestant and orthodox churches from 44 countries became members of the Council in order to find a common voice for the future. Today, there are 349 members from more than 110 countries.
The Council is devoted to achieving Christian Unity.
